This is the entry-level wine from Franck Balthazar, the nephew of the legendary Cornas producer Noel Verset, which makes him veritable Northern Rhone nobility.
It’s a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache, sourced from organically-farmed vineyards around Segueret, about 80km south of Cornas. The grapes are de-stemmed, fermented with native yeast and aged in stainless steel. The result is an approachable, full-bodied wine with subtle notes of plum, violet and spice.
It will pairs well with grilled lamb, eggplant moussaka, or French onion soup.
