Le Grappins Fleurie is from a 80 year old Gamay vines granitic-shist, fermented as whole bunches to protect the character & freshness of the fruit. The wine spends 6 months in old, large format oak barrels and is unrefined & unfiltered. As Jancis Robinson says “it is the antithesis of an industrial product” and we agree completely.
The wine is light, floral and delicate in profile. As far as Beaujolais goes, their version is refined, elegant and polished. It has a smooth texture as a lovely lighter-style red. Fleurie is all about aromatics and so you can expect a fresh lifted nose of red fruits with purity across the pallet. Supple red cherry fruit intermingles with a mixture of rose, raspberry and redcurrant. The finish is fine-textured with amazing elegance and finesse
