PT/ Pettineo: La Chiusa is about 60 years old and is an old tree that the previous owner transformed into an espalier, making the plants climb between the trellises which now also have monumental forms. Closure wines are usually fruity with silkier tannins and sustained acidity.
 
FL/ Fossa di Lupo: historic district, backbone of my work since 2004. The sapling vineyard has a planting layout typical of the Vittoria area. The district faces the Iblei Mountains to the north-east; from here fruity but also austere wines with good acidity usually derive.
 
BB/ Bombolieri: Here the lands vary from brown to white, but the surface sand layer is much lower, only 25 cm. Just below are solid limestone rocks. A part of the district has a more clayey-limestone soil, visually white on the surface, and it is here, in the Vigna Strada, that this wine is born, floral, straightforward and with great acidity.
 
 
 
Arianna Occhipinti's work in the vineyard is an inexhaustible source of observation. In particular, in recent years, she has focused on the splendid varieties Frappato di Vittoria and Nero d’Avola, as well as on the soils and the potential of the Vittoria districts and her influence on the wines.
 
Arianna realized that the vineyards thrive on the interplay of sand and limestone, which in the wines translates to fruit and silkiness on one hand, and acidity and energy on the other. She sought to preserve these elements in winemaking, supporting each vineyard individually.
 
This continuous research led Arianna to identify four vineyards for the SP68—Santa Teresa, Bastonaca, Spedalotto, and Bombolieri—two vineyards for IL FRAPPATO (Bastonaca and Fossa of Lupo), and two for SICCAGNO (Bombolieri and Fossa di Lupo). The same research then inspired him/her to go further by envisioning a single vineyard and a single wine—or rather, four.
